Thanks, Deeg. How exactly did you do such a nice job recoloring?
Carrol, I dug up the support message from three rings; quotes below.

Hmm not sure exactly why it disappeared on Ara's machine. If you had to rename it as a .png the browser must have changed it to a different format when it was downloaded to your computer. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned it into a .jpg or .gif for some reason. I'll add some instructions to my original post that might help.
In any case, uninstalling and reinstalling YPP can be used as a last resort.
The colors were done by selecting the piece in Photoshop, then opening the Hue & Saturation dialog box. Changing the hue on a selection is like picking a color from the rainbow. All the colors are changed together, preserving their relative hues. When I adjusted the Hue of some of the pieces, like the first orange one it became terribly bright in the game compared to the others. So I went back and dropped the saturation and brightness of that one offending piece until it didn't stick out so bad. _________________ The North - clean, friendly, fun and ruling the ocean |

I hopped on briefly to test this- the image works! (For Ara too; not sure what was wrong before) But I still stink at bilge.
Anyway, I'd appreciate if the bilgers interested in trying this could let me know if it really helps longterm. If so, I probably will feel obligated to post a description to the YPP tips and tricks forum to spread the joy. Give it a few days, then post yer thoughts! _________________ Officer emeritus and occasional cabin person

Wow, that's fantastic! I love the colours - especially the red. I never realised how hard on my eyes the old ones were till now.
Good job Deeg! _________________ Sante

The colours are a massive improvment and do make the pieces far easier to see.
I wouldn't say it's massively improved my bilging technique...but then again I have gone from Master to Renowned, so maybe it has!!!!! _________________ I have CDO....that's Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, but alphabetically.....like it should be! |

Interesting... I'll give it a few more days, and if comments are still generally positive, then with Deeg's permission I'll post a copy of the image to the flag forums to get a larger sample; after a 1-week window for data collection, the results will be posted to the YPP forums. (The flag forum is necessary as an experimental control, to separate the effect of the other comments in this thread from the effect of the image change)
Remember the data I'll need:
1. Pirate name / ocean
2. Bilging rank (normally)
3. Roughly how much do you pillage each week?
4. Have you read any bilging tutorials lately?
And at the end of the week:
1. Pirate name/ ocean
2. Bilging rank (with new images)
3. Comments/ thoughts
4. Did you do anything in the past week, besides changing the image, that changed the way you bilge? Describe.
If it does turn out to have a positive effect, then with the help of our little evidence beavers, who knows- perhaps we could make the new image a part of the game for everyone! _________________ Officer emeritus and occasional cabin person

Another thing that I have found, to do with bilging,
is a Vegas!
Now personally, I have not got a Vegas so it
is not needed to get Ulti, but from what I understand,
you need to get, for example, a: 3x3x3x5.
If you can get a bingo, with a 5 for one of them.
Erm, this is kind of hard to explain
Like this:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxBxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxBxxxxxxxxxx
xxB A B B Bxxxxx
xxAxBxxxxxxxxxx
xxAxBxxxxxxxxxx
So, it's just a Sea Donkey, with one of the lengths,
being 5 pieces long.
I'm not sure if this is correct, so can you please let
me know if it is wrong.
Next time I'm on Y!PP, I'll get one and screenshot
what it looks like and see if I'm right
Happy bilging

I thought I would update this. After changing my colors and 2 weeks of concentrating on bilge for a couple hours a day, I am now weighty/legendary. So that proves the colors will help some.
/me tips my hat to Pauling for bringing up the color change subject. _________________ "Nothing great in the world has been accomplished without passion."
