Just posted this over in CCC, but couldn't let you guys feel left out!!!! So here it is!

Those people from TLL know my track record with event ideas, so we'll leave it at that, but myself and Jezz have been throwing a new event idea around for a while. After mentioning it last night to Korr, Bob and a few others, I decided that here was the best place to get some feedback.

This idea is no where near ready, it still needs a lot of bugs and things working out. So please bear this in mind when reading the following.

I wouldn't normally post something whilst it's still far from ready, but we do need something unique to make us stand out from the crowd.

The Event.

Based incredibly loosely around "It's a knockout"...a British TV game show. (Feel free to wiki it...but like I said...LOOSELY based!!!!!).

This event involves 3 Stages.

The teams are formed, ideally for this to work we need an even number of teams and a minimum of 4 teams, for arguments sake I'll label them as A,B,C,D.

6 people in each team, plus one judge, to ensure rules are followed and to count scores.

1 person is chosen as captain, they play no part in stage 1. This person may be the one that acts as Bnavver, or the best Sailor or Dnavver...that decsion is up to individual teams, but they will act as the teams spokesperson.

Stage 1: Swordfighting and/or Rumble

The five remaining members of A face off against the five members of B (A plays B, C plays D), this will be in the form as individual SF challenges. This will decide which members of each individual crew can take part in the next stage.

So if 3 members of A win and 2 members of B win their individual SF's, then crew A will have 4 members, and B will have 3. So as all members board their sloops, team A will have 4 "active" members...that is to say 4 pirates who can take up stations. Team B will only have 3 active players...so only 3 people can take stations. The remaining members must stand by and not aid the crew in any way.

Note: Ensuring inactivity would need to be watched by judges. Also this rule may be relaxed if the crew get attacked (see stage 2).

Stage 2: The Race

Each team begins on a sloop...the co-ordinator begins the race. The route would be 3 islands in length...eg: start at Admiral, race to Scrimshaw, finish at Penobscot.

Obviously those teams that have more active members have a greater chance to win the race portion.

And as stated above, if the team hit a battle then all members are allowed to be active, for the duration of the battle only.

The order of the ships across the finish line, will then determine the starting values for......

Stage 3: Multi-player Sea Battle

4 sloops will be pre-stocked with particular amounts of rum and CB's.

The first team across the finish line will get the sloop with the most stock....the last team across will get the least stock. (need to work out suitable amounts to make this workable).

Once all 4 teams are ready, all players now become active again, they can enter the blockade board. This will be a 1 round board, sloops only....may be configured in other ways (sinking or no?)??

Points will be scored for every shot landed on an opponents sloop, and also for amount of stock remaining at the end of the battle, plus bonus points if your shot manages to sink an enemy sloop.

Winner announced to great cheers and merryment!!!!

Issues still to be resolved

If after the SF one team has managed to defeat every member of their opposing team this would leave you with one team of 6 and one team of 1. So we would introduce the idea of "player buy-back", for a penalty of X points you can buy a team member back...this would be open to all teams.

Points...how many as penalty, how many to award for scoring hits, sinks, remaining rum and cb's?

Prizes...this is a major event...needs to be a substantial prize to compensate.

Judges...erm...need them basically!!!!

And if you think this is confusing...you should have seen the first draft!!!!

Seems like a good idea my only worry would be that it might be too long for some people other than that it sounds good to me Smile

Sounds like it will be lots of fun! Oh, and didn't you say when you talked about it to me that it was around 2 hours? If so you may want to break up the rounds? But then that may make it difficult to keep it going?
