Your next Crew Event...YOU DECIDE for Winter 2008!

Hey everyone...so I have 2 events in the planning stages for our next crew event! These would be run sometime in January or February and will be worked around the GCL schedule so everyone in crew can participate. The event you choose will be open to current AND former TLL mates, so we can have a crew extravaganza!

So what's this "YOU DECIDE" thing? I am going to post here the 2 events I have planned and what they will entail. It is up to you, the crew, to decide which event will be run. I will put up a poll which will end on Dec. 31st so you have until the end of the year to make your choice! If there is a tie, I will make the tie-breaking vote based on your comments on the events and my personal feelings as well. Are you ready for your two choices?

Event #1: The 3rd and Final TLL Bake-off: Bilge Bake-off
This would be run as all the other bake-offs where we would split up the cabbies/pirate, JOs, and FO/SO/Capt and they would compete in their groups for the prizes. There would also be an overall champion who would win the big prize and a last place "booby prize"

*Overall Prize: ??? (I'm never telling)

FO/SO/Capt
1st place - Medal and something nice
2nd place - Choc. Chip Cookies and something nice
3rd Place - Plain Cookies and something nice

JOs
1st place - Medal and something nice
2nd place - Choc. Chip Cookies and something nice
3rd Place - Plain Cookies and something nice

Cabbies/Pirates
1st place - Medal and something nice
2nd place - Choc. Chip Cookies and something nice
3rd Place - Plain Cookies and something nice

Booby Prize - something interesting

Event #2: "TLL: True Lost Lotter" Crew Day Event
So this event would be kind of like my Blue Medal Day event, except this competition is looking for the pirate that has mastered the fun parlor games, but more importantly, portrays what a true Lost Lotter should be.

How this would work: Everyone against everyone else in various events: tourneys, card games, and trivia. Each game is worth points for how well you do in them, which big bonuses for winning (of course). However, there are many points to earn OUTSIDE of the games which are more important...

Tourneys
2 points for winning a match
5 for making the finals
Bonus 5 for winning the finals

Cards
Hearts - Same as tourneys
Spades - Same as tourneys

Poker (2 tables with x amt of players)
3 points for making the final table
Bonus points awarded for how you finish at the final table
10, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 (or something similar)

Trivia
Points given in order of victory
10, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

Clothes
5 points for each article of clothing which is crew colors

Weapons
5 points for each weapon that is in crew colors
Bonus 2 if weapon is broken bottle, backsword, and/or fish

Sportsmanship
10 points for pirate who best represents TLL in sportsmanship (may be awarded more than once if deemed "deserved")

*Bonus points given as deemed "deserved"

There will be a list of prizes where the winner (most points earned) chooses first, next highest 2nd, so on and so forth.

Wow...as of now it is 5 to 5...

So in case others don't vote...people need to try and convince me of which one would be better and why since I would have to make the final decision in a tie. Defend your choice! Very Happy

I think we should finish the bake off with BILGE Very Happy

before the year is up since that's kinda what I thought we were doing with it (if folks liked em and wanted more it would be done annually?)

Otherwise, both events sound like they'd be a lot of fun Very Happy

we started with sailing and did carp. we need to finish what we've started with the main 3 duty puzzles. BILGE!!! don't make me start sending subliminal mind messages! i'll do it too!

OK, from the input I have gotten and the poll, I will be doing the Bilge Bake-Off in January and the "TLL: True Lost Lotter" in March/April. I will also be running an ocean-wide event sometime in February, so be looking for that in the Y!PP forums.
