Well. I have been gone for a bit. I did go on a vacation for a while and that was most of it. But The last several days, the reason I have been gone is because I haven't been able to see...

I decided to try a new Indian dessert I just got the recipe for (mango lassi). I was all set to by frozen mango to make things easier on myself. But as it turned out when I got to the store, I saw the fresh mango and though... why not, it'll taset better. So that's what I did.

Now I'm not sure if it was the mango fruit itself, or the peel. See mango is in the same plant family as poison ivy and sumac. The same oil from those plants is also in the mango peel.

Well needless to say, I had a reaction. I big allergic reaction all over my face, particularly in my eyes... They are soo puffy that I couldn't open the left one today. And the pressure it is putting on my eye is making me insane, not to mention the headache it has given me.

I'm not the type to go for the doctor for just anything, but today I had enough, it wasn't getting better, in fact it was getting worse. So off I went today. The doc say it was definitely an allergic reaction, and since there wasn't anything else new in my diet I'm sure it was the mango somehow.

So the magical cure... steroid shot. And where did I get to get it?... well let's just say I had to bend over... AND because it goes into the muscle, it gets to be sore for a few days... Shocked Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Well, that was a few hours ago today and I can already tell the swelling has gone down some. I do have to check back tomorrow and make sure there is no infection... other wise I'll need antibiotics too. Oh and a small chance that if it is more swollen in the morning - off to the emergency room... yeah. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

So that's where I'm sitting right now in misery... Oh and as I left the office, she says to me "no more mangoes" gee, ya think...
(I don't even like mangoes... made the dessert for company that came over.)

Poor Maggie! Hurting from top to, well, bottom.

Top that off with the news that a tornado hit Planter's house. No one hurt, just lost trees and trees on the house.

I think you all should be a little more careful! Mangoes and tornadoes and barbs! Oh my!

poor maggie. i never would have thought mango peel would cause such a problem.
i won't do any eye or butt jokes.

but it was either planters or art that was waiting for a tornado to come closer to them, so one of them got their wish.

Aww, allergy is terrible, /me knows something about it>.>
It might not be neccessery after you got the medicins already, but next time try to take some calcium after you notice first symptomes. It always helps for a while and makes the trip to doctor (if necessery) a lot easier^^

/me is allergic to my pet rat and it is awful, but I somehow cannot live without her *^^*
Calcium helps!
