Ahoy there and welcome to the Lost Lot! The way we pillage may be similar or different to other crews in the ocean. First, if you are a complete green (and nothing wrong with that, we've all been there). You'll find an illustrated guide to everything you need to know at the below link:

http://members.shaw.ca/murraymanga/puzzlepirates/pillageinfo.html

For those of you who are familiar with pillages, here are a few things that we might do differently than others:

1. Respect EVERYONE
2. Don't clutter up the chat with useless banter, but do pay attention to it and look for officer's commands. Do not give your own orders if you're not an officer
3. Promotions and other crew business will be handled at the end of the voyage (after port and divvy)
4. During sword fights, please team in groups of three. We don't worry about sword types.

We run on a business like model, as everyone on the pillage is interested in making money, we'd like to ensure that it will happen. We will plank those who do poorly (practice with the navy if you wish to learn how to do duties), but we'll warn them first. We will also plank those that d/c (disconnect) in sword fights because that is costly to the crew. Those that leave during a battle or sword fight will be demoted and black listed from the crew, meaning they will never work for us again. Leaving during a battle is a serious offense! If you really have to go, make sure we know why and make sure it is a good reason.

Again, if anything confuses you, there is an illustrated guide at the above link.
Happy plundering!

okay, i know this an old post but I'm new to the game anyhow. Just out of curiosity, does the post imply that you can only get promoted if you stay for an ENTIRE pillage? I've been on a number of pillages but never all in a row (my dad doesn't let me stay on that long usually.)

Promotions and other crew business, in context, I believe is read as, "Joining the crew, and promoting if its a test run (to test you)." The best way to get promoted to pirate is just to do well and get noticed. Same, I believe, for Junior Officer, but you'll have to take the aforementioned test... Someone correct me if I've booched this.

Booch seems like a pretty popular term nowadays especially for the beginning puzzlers, I got no idea what it means tho -.- /me pulls out huge Oxford Encyclopedia

Thanks for the clarification Hara Smile

As I understand, from Cabin Person to Pirate you don't really need to do too much. Excelling in puzzles, be friendly and stick around a bit and bam! -- pirate.

To be Junior Officer (our own term), you need 3 basic attributes -- skills, loyalty and friendliness. Don't think it's necessary for me to get down to details, all 3 are pretty self-explanatory.

PS: For puzzling duties, the following ratings are possible (in order of efficiency):
Booched, Poor, Fine, Good, Excellent, Incredible

If a newbie (aka greenie) does a duty deemed as either Booched or Poor, the game spares their humiliation and replaces with the rating Learning instead.
