My dream to become an ocean event planner...

So everyone has noticed that I like to run events. Blue Medal Day was a big success, the Carp Bake-off (assistant chef) will be a big success, and hopefully the Crew PvP tourney (assistant judge) will be a big success. Also, the Save Our Scallywags auction was a HUGE success, making over 1mil PoE for the flag. So I thought about it, and decided that I had been seeing a lot of events that could go from ocean to ocean...and I want to be one of the few that gets to do that...so...

I posted on the main forums my idea of a pirate game show. I would really appreciate it if everyone could go to the post and leave your comments. Hopefully, if enough people love the idea, I will get the support and funding of an OM and can test the event on Sage!

I think it's fantastic that you're considering doing an ocean-wide event! Blue medal day was great :3

About the current idea, the first thing that strikes me is determining who gets the privelege to be the 1, and what would motivate a whole heap of other people to want to participate as the 100 (I.E. Prizes weighed up against things like how much time and effort it would take). I'm guessing you'd have the 1 million PoE split amongst the remaining people if the single person loses.

Since firstly, I think contestants for Booty or No Booty needed a ticket, and having an audience was a bonus, but not mandatory. Whereas getting a large group of people to stay for an indeterminate period of time is worrying.

Then you've got more things like the questions themselves (choosing uncontroversial question/answers; difficultly level; exactly how everyone will indicate their answers [+ lag, - spamming etc.]).

But my novice opinions aside, if you're up for managing these details, it would be fun to see happen ^ ^ And your standing in Event-organising would skyrocket Razz

I have to completely agree with Avera...the difficulty in things like this is finding the right questions. And the ability to google up the answer makes it very hard to police.

Now I know that an answer to this is to put a time limit on...but that's very restrictive, Jezz herself suffered from this very badly in the blue Medal Day. On one or two questions the question and the answer came almost simultaneously due to insane lag, where I had no problems despite sharing the internet connection.

Puzzles do limit this by stacking attacks and having a built in delay to the games. I just fear you'd have a lot of irate people who claimed unfairness due to issues you can't control.

Jezz has just suggested one idea...actually scratch that...Ilike the idea so much I'm going to keep it to myself for a while and see if I can flesh it out a little. Might make a good September Contest (might not as well). Sorry bob...that turned out to be not as helpful as I figured!!!

EDIT...Just realised a line I wrote made no sense since I never finished the thought off...as I can't remember the thought I'm getting rid of the whole line!!

Also, you have to be very careful on trivia and the like, not to have any regional biases. Sports are straight out from the start, along with any specific history questions. Confused
